Watching Books – April 2024

Hey guys, how are you? I cannot believe that it’s already May, the warm season is upon us and I couldn’t be happier about that, sunny days are upon us, and with that, we have also some bookish adaptations news I want to discuss with you. We had some exciting ones last month, so get ready, and let’s get started!

  • The first news for the month regards the movie based on the book Nightbitch by Rachel Yoder. It will be released in theatres on December 6th of this year. The movie is directed by Marielle Heller (The Diary of a Teenage Girl, A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood) and Amy Adams (American Hustle, Sharp Object) plays the main role in it.

  • A massive and exciting news if you like the Dune franchise: the third movie Dune: Messiah, based on the novels by Frank Herbert, is officially in development at Legendary. This movie is supposed to have a 12-year gap in the plot from the events of the first two movies, and the director, Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Blade Runner 2049) revealed that the screenplay is still in the early stages of development.

  • We have the first promotional picture of Sam Claflin (Love Rosie, Daisy Jones and the Six) in The Count of Monte Cristo .  It is of course based on the classic story by Alexandre Dumas.
This one is supposed to come out in September of this year, and it will supposedly debut on the Italian channel Rai 1 (a commissioning broadcaster of the project).

  • We have the trailer for the movie Maxton Hall, based on the book Save Me by Mona Katsen. The boarding school/romance movie will come out on Amazon Prime Video on May 9th. You can watch the trailer here.

  • And speaking of Amazon Prime Video projects, we heave the first promotional pictures of the TV series based on the book My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton and Jodi Meadows. We also came to know that the series will debut on June 27th I’m so excited, I love historical TV shows, and this seems to have romance, humor, a wonderful aesthetic, all of it.

  • Elliot Page (Juno, The Umbrella Academy) is going to produce an adaptation of the novel The Darkness Outside Us by Eliot Schrefer. The sci-fi novel is following two boys from enemy countries and the rescue mission they’re going on together. Oh, and love is also involved. It seems really cool.

  • While we are all waiting for our beloved Polin season (at least I sure am), we came to know that season 4 of Bridgerton, based on the historical novels by Julia Quinn, will begin filming in June, and it should follow Benedict.

an offer from a gentleman

  • Three amazing casting news for the third season of Heartstopper, based on the famous comics by Alice Oseman. Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton, Fellow Travelers) has joined the cast in the role of Jack Maddox, Eddie Marsan (Hancok, The Illusionist) will play Charlie’s therapist, Geoff and Hayley Atwell (Christopher Robin, Agent Carter) will play Nick’s aunt, Diane.

  • And last, but certainly not least, I’m so excited to say that we have the first trailer for the movie based on the book This Time Next Year by Sophie Cousens. I loved the book, and this trailer seems so, so, so good, I can’t wait to watch it. The movie will premiere in UK and Ireland on the 3rd of June.

Watching Books – March 2024

Hi guys, I’m so sorry for being so late, but I’m finally here with the March latest news about books and movies and tv shows adaptations. We have a lot of exciting news, and a lot to talk about, so grab something to drink and to eat, cause we’re going to have fun.
Let’s get started!

  • The very first news is a really exciting one: we have the first cast news about the We Were Liars TV series based on the book by E. Lockhart. The Amazon project will star Candice King (The Vampire Diaries, After We Collided), Mamie Gummer (True Detective, Ricki and The Flash) and Caitlin FitzGerald (Succession, Station Eleven). Gummer will play Carrie Sinclair, the eldest daughter, FitzGerald will play Penny Sinclair and King will play Bess Sinclair, the youngest of the sisters.

  • The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi by Shannon Chakraborty will become a TV show. Production company FlipNarrative wants to develop it as a multi-season TV series and as a gaming platform. The book follows a retired pirate, who has to get the crew back together for one last adventure. It seems really interesting.

the adventures of amina-al-sirafi

  • A series adaptation of the Harry Hole book series by Jo Nesbø will be adapted by Netflix. It will be directed by Øystein Karlsen (Exit) and it will follow detective Harry Hole, who’s just been abandoned by his girlfriend and has to partner with an unlikely partner to investigate the murder of a woman.

  • Jessica Biel (Playing for Keeps, Truth abheartstoout Emanuel) will produce and star in the Peacock series The Good Daughter based on the thriller book by Karen Slaughter. The miniseries will follow two sisters trying to get their life together after they were fractured by a single night of violence some time before. It seems very chilling.

  • Amazing news, we came to know that Heartsopper season 3, based on the comics by Alice Oseman, will come out on Netflix in October of this year. It’s a lovely news, and we all can’t wait for it.

heartstopper

  • Amazon Prime Video has unveiled the first images of the adaptation of the book The Narrow Road to the Deep North by Richard Flanagan, in which Jacob Elordi (Euphoria, Saltburn) also stars.

  • Wonderful news, at least for me: Josh O’Connor (God’s Own Country, The Crown) is in talks to star in Luca Guadagnino’s (Call Be By Your Name, Bones and All) new movie, based on the novel Separate Rooms by Pier Vittorio Tondelli. The story follows an Italian writer in his thirties that decides to go to Munich, his late boyfriend’s hometown. Listen, we’re gonna cry, we all collectively remember the Visions of Gideon sequence in Call Me By Your Name, we know what Luca can do, let’s just be ready.

  • Universal TV has acquired the rights of the romance series Rebel Blue Ranch by Lyla Sage, the first book being Done and Dusted. Each book follows a different couple, but they all have in common that they are small town romances. I’m always a big fan of these types of shows and books, so I can’t wait to know more.

done and dusted

  • This month we also had the first trailer for the film adaptation of John Green’s Turtles All the Way Down. It seems really nice, and the movie will debut on Max on the 2nd of May. You can watch the trailer here

Okay guys, this is all for this month, I can’t wait to know which one was your favourite news, I will talk to you soon.

Thanks for reading,

A Bunch of Bookish Reviews #9

Hey Readers! Since I read a couple of interesting novels in the past weeks, I thought it would be a great idea to give you some personal opinions about them! Here you will find the reviews of Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John Mandel and Radio Silence by Alice Oseman. Hope you will enjoy reading about them!

Title: Sea of Tranquility

Author: Emily St. John Mandel

Synopsis (from Goodreads): Edwin St. Andrew is eighteen years old when he crosses the Atlantic by steamship, exiled from polite society following an ill-conceived diatribe at a dinner party. He enters the forest, spellbound by the beauty of the Canadian wilderness, and suddenly hears the notes of a violin echoing in an airship terminal–an experience that shocks him to his core.
Two centuries later a famous writer named Olive Llewellyn is on a book tour. She’s traveling all over Earth, but her home is the second moon colony, a place of white stone, spired towers, and artificial beauty. Within the text of Olive’s best-selling pandemic novel lies a strange passage: a man plays his violin for change in the echoing corridor of an airship terminal as the trees of a forest rise around him.
When Gaspery-Jacques Roberts, a detective in the black-skied Night City, is hired to investigate an anomaly in the North American wilderness, he uncovers a series of lives upended: The exiled son of an earl driven to madness, a writer trapped far from home as a pandemic ravages Earth, and a childhood friend from the Night City who, like Gaspery himself, has glimpsed the chance to do something extraordinary that will disrupt the timeline of the universe.

Rating: 4.5/5 stars

This book was so amazing and I so enjoyed reading it! It was gifted to me by a friend and I decided to give it a try some days before the end of 2023. Little I knew it would end up in my Top 10 of my favourite books of that year and here I’ll tell you why.
First thing first, the plot was structured in a very cool way. Each story started from the beginning and then it was interrupted at some point so the next one could begin. It reminded me so much of one of my all-time favourite novels: Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell, that has a structure of a Russian doll (and if you haven’t read it I strongly suggest it to you). I felt really captivated while reading it and this structure gives the perfect pace to enjoy every single chapter. I also enjoyed the characters and their stories, it was interesting reading about their different points of view and how they experienced the main event that surrounds their lives.
The writing style was very fluent and it made me enjoy the book even more. Everything was explained very easily and the author made me understand all that happened. And what blew my mind was how every single piece fell into place in the end. How it was done was amazing and even if I saw it coming, I still loved it.
The only complaint I have regards a single thing that I didn’t appreciate because in my opinion it could have been developed better, but since it is part of a huge spoiler of the book, I prefer to not talk about it. Anyway, apart from that, I really suggest you this book because it deserves everything.

Title: Radio Silence

Author: Alice Oseman

Synopsis (from Goodreads): Frances Janvier spends most of her time studying. Everyone knows Aled Last as that quiet boy who gets straight As. You probably think that they are going to fall in love or something. Since he is a boy and she is a girl. They don’t. They make a podcast. In a world determined to shut them up, knock them down, and set them on a cookie cutter life path, Frances and Aled struggle to find their voices over the course of one life-changing year.
Will they have the courage to show everyone who they really are? Or will they be met with radio silence?

Rating: 4.5/5 stars

Before I started reading this book I knew it was still part of the Heartstopper universe (because, duh, Aled is everywhere in the comics) but I didn’t know it would be full of references and allusions from Solitaire. And that’s probably one of the main reasons why I really enjoyed reading this book.
Another main reason why I liked it is for sure Alice Oseman’s writing style. The writing style is definitely one of my favourites, it’s never heavy or boring and every aspect of life and its dark sides is explored with such respect and delicacy that it makes my eyes tear up. Aled’s story is not an easy one and the topics that Oseman decides to deal with are important ones and I wish I had read this book sooner. Don’t get me wrong, I went to Uni, I enjoyed that period of time, but before going there I wished I had the chance to read this story because it would have made me realise many things.
Going back to Aled and Frances’ stories, I really enjoyed reading about these characters and finally understanding more about Aled’s life. I had never met Frances and it was a pleasure to get to know her and I really hope that Oseman will find a way to make her appear in the last volume of the comic.
I think this book has a lot of food for thought and definitely a lot of important messages for all the young people out there and that’s why this story has become one of my favourites by this author. If you still haven’t picked it up, please do yourself a favour and give it a try.

So these were my opinions about these two books! If you would like to let me know your own thoughts about what I said or you would like to talk about these novels, just leave a comment down below! Thanks for reading.

WWWednesday #19

Hey Readers! Welcome back to my monthly update about the books I’ve read and the ones I’d like to read next. I’m really happy about how my Summer is going at the moment, finally I had the chance to read some more books than usual and I hope I will get to many more before Autumn! Let’s see how my TBR is going.

What are you currently reading?

I’m currently reading Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston and I’m really enjoying it! I just love this story and the romance, they are so well done. I’m madly in love with both Alex and Henry and I can’t believe I’ve waited so much to finally approach this book. I must admit that the movie adaptation did help me pick this novel up and I’m so glad for it. I’m almost done with my reading, I’m about 80% done with it and I think I’ll finish reading it today. I can’t wait to see how everything will wrap up, I’m not ready.

What did you recently finish reading?

The latest books I’ve read were an Italian novel and a graphic novel.
The first one is Poverina by Chiara Galeazzi, an autobiographical book about the author’s experience in hospital after she gets a stroke. The author talks about her experience in a funny and light way and I was giggling all the time about how she told what was happening daily. It is indeed a light read, but it surely makes you think a lot, too, and the author is very good in balancing these two aspects in her novel.
The graphic novel I read was the third volume of Heartstopper. It’s almost meaningless telling you that I’ve read this book because of the second series that recently came out, but that’s the main reason. I will be repetitive, but this series (both the books and the TV adaptation) is SO good and lovely, it’s just the perfect example of a comfort series and after watching it I couldn’t miss the chance to re-read the third volume. I just can’t get enough of these characters.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Okay, so, hear me out. Last month I said I would have started Kingdom of Ash right after Tower of Dawn. I tried my best but my chaotic mind made me change idea a couple of times and as you can see by the first two questions my TBR changed a lot *insert clown emoji*. So, now I’m here with a full plan for the rest of the month of August: since Kingdom of Ash is pretty long, I’ve decided to divide it into chunks of chapters to read each day from today until the end of the month. This will help me a lot and I won’t get overwhelmed by its hugeness.
Also, when I have some spare time, before the end of August, I’d like to start reading the first volumes of the famous manga and anime Evangelion. My boyfriend is a fan of both of them and convinced me to try reading the manga, so I think I’ll give it a chance and see if it’s my cup of tea or not.

So, this was my WWWednesday, hope you enjoyed it! If you would like to let me know your answers to these questions, please leave them in a comment down below. Thanks for reading!

A Heartstopper Inspired Tag

Hello everyone!

The second season of Heartstopper came out just a few days ago and it was EVERYTHING AND MORE! I’m just so happy with how everything is coming together and how faithful to the original story the show is, seeing the characters I’ve loved for years come to life is truly amazing.

To celebrate I thought we could do a Heartstopper book tag and while browsing the internet this is the one I found. It’s originally a youtube book tag by Mel, whose channel is called A book friend named Mel. I’ll leave you the link HERE so you can check out the original video.

Let’s get started!

1.LGBTQIA+ rep – a book/tv show/movie that has excellent LGBTQIA+ rep

I have to mention all the other Alice Oseman’s books, they have great rep and I truly recommend them if you haven’t read them yet. I will also add I wish you all the best by Mason Deaver, Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender and Kiss Her Once for Me by Alison Cochrun. For tv show/movie I’ll say Please like me and Pose.

hs1

2.Great Rep – in addition to great LGBTQIA+ rep, Heartstopper has other great rep as well.  Name a book/tv show/movie that also has other sorts of fantastic rep.

For books definitely The Charm Offensive by Alison Cochrun, Honey Girl by Morgan Rogers and Like Real People Do by E.L. Massey which all have LGBTQIA+ rep but also other kinds of representation. For tv/show/movie I’ll go with Sense 8 and also the third season of Skam (the Norwegian one -> I don’t know if the third season of all the other versions is the same as this one, that’s why I am specifying which one I’m talking about).

hs2

3.Romance – a book/tv show/movie that has a great romantic plot or sub plot

Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston, you know I have to go with this one!

red, white & royal blue

4.YA – your favourite YA book/tv show/movie – or that represents the teenage experience really well

Since there are so many YA books out there that do a tremendous job, too many to mention them all really, I’ll just answer this prompt with some authors who are really good at this and they are Jenn Bennett and Alice Oseman. I’ll also say a tv show and that’s gotta be Skam 100% for me, it just captures the teenage experience so perfectly in my opinion.

hs4

5.Graphic Novels – the original source material is a graphic novel.  Recommend a fantastic graphic novel/manga/comic (or a book with beautiful illustrations) or a fantastic cartoon or anime.

The tea dragon society by Katie O’Neill and Check, please! by Ngozi Ukazu.

hs5

6.Nick Nelson – loveable golden retriever – a character that is just loveable, gentle, sweet and all round puppy energy.

Definitely Ren from Always Only You by Chloe Liese. Ren is just a ball of sunshine with so much love to give, he just emanates golden retriever energy in my opinion.

7.Charlie Spring – shy, nerdy boy – a character that is a sweet, shy nerd.

Adam Parrish from The Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater, my lovely nerd with the biggest heart!

I loved doing this tag, I hope you enjoyed reading and also consider yourself tagged!

Talk to you soon,

emma

  • First news, Theo James (Divergent, The White Lotus) will star in the adaptation of the short story “The Monkey” by Stephen King. The movie will follow twin brothers Han and Bill, who find an old monkey belonging to their father in the attic. A series of deaths start to happen then around them. • Mark Hamill (Star Wars, Kingsman) and Tom Hiddleston (Crimson Peak, Loki) will star in another Stephen King’s adaptation, and this time we’re talking about “The Life of Chuck”. The movie will be directed by Mike Flanagan. This one follows Charles Krantz, and his life in reverse, from his death caused by a brain tumor, back to his childhood in a haunted house.

Watching Books – April 2023

Hey guys, this month we had a lot of news regarding bookish adaptations, and when I say a lot, I really mean, A LOT LOT. So, grab some popcorns, a drink of choice, or whatever you want, cause we’re going for a ride, you guys.

  • First news for this month is one I love with all my heart, and that is that “Beach Read” by Emily Henry will become a movie and Yulin Kuang (Love Daily) will direct it and adapt it. Kuang recently also adapted “People We Meet on Vacation” by the same author. The movie will follow August, “Gus”, and January, two authors who will swap genres for a summer. It’s one of my favourite romance novels ever, so I’m very happy to see it adapted.
  • HBO will adapt a new prequel TV series of “Game of Thrones”, this one inspired by the book “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”, a collection of the three existing novellas about Ser Duncan the Tall and Egg. The series will be named “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight”, and it will follow Ser Duncan the Tall and Aegon V Targaryen when he was young, and the events will take place 90 years before “A Song of Ice and Fire”. Martin will produce and be a screenwriter for the series. We still don’t know anything about a possible release date.

a knight of the seven kingdoms

  • After her latest thriller movie, Olivia Wilde (Booksmart, Don’t Worry Darling) will land in the world of bookish adaptations, and she will direct a TV adaption of “A Visit from the Goon Squad” and “The Candy House” by Jennifer Egan. A24 has optioned the rights for the books. The first book follows Bennie Salazar, a former punk rocker, and Sasha, the young woman he employs, alongside a cast of characters whose lives connect with them.
  • Amazing news, Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock, Doctor Strange) will star in the TV adaptation of “How To Stop Time” by Matt Haig. He will play the main character, Tom Hazard, who ages very slowly. The TV series will be divided into six episodes.

• Let’s talk about the first elephant in the room: Harry Potter will have a new life thanks to a TV Series in the works for HBO Max. Every season will follow one of the books. Warner Bros has described this series as a “decade-long series”, and the cast has yet to be revealed. Did we really need it? I’m not sure.

• In the same vein, Lionsgate is in the early stages of developing a TV series based on the “Twilight Saga” by Stephenie Meyer. The writer herself is supposedly being involved in the project, and that’s the only thing that calms me down a bit. Did we really need it? I’m not sure 2.0, since these movies literally held my hand through my pre-teen years, and I swear I’m not even that old.

twilight

  • We have a new trailer for the “American Born Chinese” series based on the graphic novel by Gene Luen Yang. It seems really interesting and it will debut on Disney+ on May 24th.
  • Speaking of trailers, we also have the first teaser for the Apple TV+ series “Lessons in Chemistry” based on the book by Bonnie Garmus. I’ve wanted to read the book for so long and maybe I will do that right before the film premieres, which is set for Fall of this year.
  • Another trailer guys, and this one is for “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” movie, based on the prequel novel of “The Hunger Games” by the same title, written by Suzanne Collins of course. If you are a fan of the original trilogy you will find many references and nods to it, and it will make you really nostalgic. The movie is set to release in cinemas on the 16th of November.
  • The second season of the TV series “The Summer I Turned Pretty”, based on the YA trilogy by Jenny Han, will release on Amazon Prime Video this summer, to be precise on July 14th.

summer I

  • A release date we actually have is the one for season 2 of “Heartstopper”, based on the graphic novels by Alice Oseman: the Netflix series will premiere its second season on August 3rd and I can’t wait to see these lovely characters again. The way they announced it on Instagram was also super cute.
  • Netflix also let us know that the third season of “The Witcher”, based on the fantasy books by Andrzej Sapkowski, and the last with Henry Cavill, will premiere on the streaming platform on June 29th, with the first volume, followed up by the second volume on July 27th. We also have a teaser and a new poster.

the witcher 3

  • History huh? Bet we could make some with this news: I am delighted to say that we have the first poster for the movie adaptation of “Red, White and Royal Blue”, based on the book by Casey McQuiston. The poster is absolutely adorable, but other than that we also have a release date, guys, I could cry. The day our heart will be melted with cuteness will be August 11th on Amazon Prime, mark that on your calendars.

red white poster

  • The “It Ends With Us” adaptation, based on the famous novel by Colleen Hoover, has its Atlas and its Alyssa. Atlas will be played by Brandon Sklenar (1923, Midway), and Alyssa will be played by Jenny Slate (Everything, Everywhere All At Once).
  • And finally, last news for this month, is not yet certain but I’m so excited so I have to share it even if it might not come true. Jessie Buckley (Women Talking, The Lost Daughter), and Paul Mescal (Normal People, Aftersun… and yes, The Lost Daughter as well), are in talk to play respectively Agnes and William Shakespeare in the adaptation of “Hamnet” by Maggie O’Farrell, who will be directed by Chloé Zhao (Nomadland, The Eternals). I’m a big fan of Paul Mescal, and I’ve wanted to read this book for ages so this is just the best news for me.

Okay guys, we have come to the end of this article, hope you enjoyed, and let me know your favourite news for the month down in the comments.

Thank you so much for reading,

I sure do, so I thought it would be a great idea to give you 10 books that in my opinion were really worth the hype and that you won’t regret! So, let’s take a look at which ones I put here!

Heartstopper

Every time I mention this series, tears begin to form in my eyes. This is one of the cosiest comics I have ever read, it surely is worth all of the hype that surrounds it. Nick and Charlie became my adopted kids the very first time I read this comic on Tumblr and since then I would do anything to protect them. Oseman has such a wonderful and delicate way to deal with important topics and I suggest you check out the trigger warnings before you start reading it.

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe

Another book with an author that chooses to deal with important topics in a delicate way is definitely Aristotle and Dante. I read it many years ago when it became famous among the book community, even before TikTok (boomer mode: on). This is the story of two young boys that start to discover themselves and their friendship and how it could develop in something else. Please, do yourself a favour and read this novel. Also, I’ll keep this as a reminder to read the sequel because it’s still resting on my bookshelves.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

This is definitely one of the worthiest, I assure you that Taylor Jenkins Reid did an astonishing work with this book. When I read it, I was completely blown away by how amazing the story was. The author makes sure to catch your heart and either warm it and/or destroy it. If you are looking for an historical fiction set in the Hollywood studios, you have found the right novel.

The Atlas Six

Here we are talking about one of the most interesting fantasy dark academia novels I have ever read. Olivie Blake is able to construct such captivating characters that will make you love and hate them at the same time. And the main quest that is behind the plot might seem cliché, but don’t worry, the author is there to make you go up and down on a rollercoaster and force you to read every page of that novel, until you finish it within a couple of days. I must admit that I’m a little scared about the second instalment of this series, I haven’t seen a lot of good opinions on the internet, but I think I’ll wait for the third book to come out to re-read the first one and see what happens in the following novels.

Almond

Now that we are almost near Christmas Eve, talking about this book makes me think about some things that happened in this book and that I didn’t see coming. This story is surely devastating, that’s one way to describe it. The first time I saw it on TikTok, I didn’t even know this book existed. After seeing it in like 10 videos I finally came to the conclusion that it was time to give it a chance and see what all the fuss was about. I finished listening to the audiobook version of this book with tears in my eyes. The plot is not light and I strongly suggest you to check out the trigger warnings before approaching it.

The Inheritance Games

I saw this novel everywhere and everyone was talking about it, so when the perfect occasion came to read it, I was ready. What I wasn’t ready for was the ambivalent opinion I had on this book: at first, I wasn’t the biggest fan, the plot seemed a bit slow to me, but then, the second part and mostly the ending made me want to read the following instalments of this series. I’m so curious about what will happen next, I must get to the final two books before I forget what happened in the first novel.

Six of Crows

Well, let’s say that I would like to throw this book on my head for waiting so much time before reading it. I wanted to do things properly, so when I came to know that a TV series adaptation of The Grishaverse was coming, I told myself it was time to read the first trilogy and I must say that I really enjoyed it. But then, when I finally came to the duology of Six of Crows, I really understood the hype surrounding this series. Bardugo didn’t simply create a wonderful story of a heist, she also decided to put all of her writing skills to work to create such amazing characters that it’s impossible to not like. I still need to get to the King of Scars duology, but since I know that it’s not very beloved, I will get to it in the future.

The Love Hypothesis

Since I LOVE Adam Driver and the main character is modelled after him, could I miss the chance to read this novel? No, of course not. I deeply enjoyed this book and its characters, even though some of the things that happened were too awkward. But apart from that, the story is very lovely and I was rooting for the two main characters all the time. Also, this is an enemies-to-lovers romance, so if you are a fan of it, this is a good choice.

All the Light We Cannot See

Okay, I didn’t know that this book went viral and that many people talked about it. But one thing is sure: this book is good. I’m not the perfect match for historical fiction, but I had to make an exception for this book because I literally devoured it. There’s also a TV series in production and the cast seems amazing. If you like to read books before their adaptation on screen comes out, here’s the perfect occasion to read it.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder

Here’s the final novel of this looong list and what better than conclude this article with one of my favourite mysteries of the last years? Holly Jackson knew her job and she did it really well. I loved reading this book, it was so captivating and I wanted to discover the truth so bad. I also really liked the ending, in my opinion the entire case was well structured and I adored seeing Pip and Navi investigate. I will definitely read the other books of this series.

So, these were 10 TikTok-famous books that were worth the hype. I also have already decided two other novels that are very famous on TikTok that I would like to read and they are It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover and A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. I so hope they won’t disappoint me!

Books as Songs from Sanremo 2022

Hello readers! Today I’m bringing you an article which is a bit different from the usual. This week is all about the Sanremo music festival in Italy. If you don’t know, the Sanremo music festival is the most important music event in Italy and it’s also the longest-running annual TV music competition in the world on a national level. So yeah, it’s a big deal and it’s what everyone has been talking about for the past several days since it always involves laughs, drama and both good and not so good music. If you’re not Italian, you may have heard of the festival since Måneskin were the winners last year and they experienced amazing success all around the world in the past 12 months, we’re all very proud of them. So yeah, the whole week is an experience you don’t wanna miss. And tonight we’re also gonna find out who’s the winner who will also represent Italy in the Eurovision song contest, I CANNOT wait!

I had to choose only a few songs since there are 25 contestants and songs and I could not do them all. I hope you enjoy my choices!

Mahmood e Blanco – Brividi

Nudo con i brividi
A volte non so esprimermi
E ti vorrei amare, ma sbaglio sempre
E ti vorrei rubare un cielo di perle
E pagherei per andar via,
Accetterei anche una bugia
E ti vorrei amare, ma sbaglio sempre
E mi vengono i brividi, brividi, brividi.

This song is about the fear that we may feel in a relationship, the fear of making mistakes and being inadequate in front of the person we love the most. That’s why I decided to go with The Binding by Bridget Collins. I don’t want to give too much away because of spoilers, but I feel like this song could capture some moments of the novel really well.

binding

Ditonellapiaga e Rettore – Chimica

E non mi basta avere un cuore
Per provare dell’amore veramente
E non mi servono parole per un poco di piacere è solamente
Una questione di
Chimica chimica
Chi-chi-chi-chi-chi-chi
Chimica chimica

This is a very upbeat song and the title literally means “chemistry” and since it’s all about chemistry I decided to go with what may be an easy fit but still a good one, The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood.

The love hypothesis

Achille Lauro – Domenica

Poi mi spoglia
È come un ladro
No
Le tratto bene se no si innamorano ah, ah
Più tardi in camera
Sì poi ti chiamerò
È come fosse domenica

The song is about getting loose on Sundays and doing whatever one wants to do, especially sex. No rules or responsibilities in sight. It’s very out there and it’s in Achille Lauro’s signature style. The book I chose is King of Battle and Blood by Scarlett St. Clair, which revolves around Adrian and Isolde who have lots of sex and slowly fall for each other even though they are supposed to be enemies. Definitely recommended if you’re looking for a fantasy book with lots of steamy scenes!

King of Battle and Blood

Elisa – O forse sei tu

E chiedimi tu come stai
Se ancora io non l’ho capito
E se domani partirai
Portami sempre con te
Sarò
Tra le luci di mille città
Tra la solita pubblicità
Quella scusa per farti un po’ ridere
E io sarò
Quell’istante che ti porterà
Una piccola felicità

This is definitely a love song. I think it can be both interpreted as a song about the love and beautiful memories that still remain after a break-up or as a song about lovers who are not physically together but still think constantly about each other to bring a smile to their faces. I’ve decided to include a book that features a long-distance relationship and that may encapsulate well these feelings of fondness and love. The novel is Stay a Little Longer by Dawn Lanuza.

This is maybe one of the songs with the most complex lyrics in the competition. It’s deeply felt and it touches upon the importance of love and human relationships in our life. Everything is possible through them, even the impossible like the blooming of flowers in the middle of winter. I think that Honey Girl by Morgan Rogers might be a good fit for this song. It’s about Grace and how she starts to reflect on her life now that she has finally obtained her PhD. The book deals with topics of mental health and it clearly shows that the people we surround ourselves with are extremely important and also that loving means truly revealing yourself to others, all of you, no parts hidden.

Honey Girl

Noemi – Ti amo non lo so dire

Posso andare sulla luna
Ma ti amo ti amo ti amo
So che è un po’ da stupidi
Fare finta di niente perché
Ad aspettare dei miracoli
Ci togliamo i secondi e non c’è
Più cura per riprenderli

This is a song about the insecurities one may feel when in love and also how sometimes it can be very difficult to express one’s own feelings. A good match for this one is definitely One Day by David Nicholls.

oneday

Sangiovanni – Farfalle

E non l’ho detto a nessuno
Che ho perso la testa
E sono pazzo di te
Non volano farfalle
Non sto più nella pelle
Ho perso le emozioni me le ritrovi tu?

Sangiovanni is well liked by lots of young people and yes I’m talking like I’m 50 even though I assure you I am not, it’s just not my kind of sound, that’s all. This is a love song and it talks about how amazing it is to be with the person you love. So what’s better than a friends to lovers story that gives you all the warm fuzzies? Heartstopper could be such a good fit for this one.

heartstopper

Matteo Romano – Virale

E lasciati andare
Che il cuore ti cade giù
E l’amore riappare
Va in tendenza e risale
Diventa virale

Romano is a young singer who deals with the ups and down of a relationship in this fresh take from his young POV. That’s why I decided to pair this song with a young adult with a not-always-smooth relationship and that is Tweet Cute by Emma Lord.

Irama – Ovunque sarai

Ovunque sarai
Ovunque sarò
In ogni gesto io ti cercherò
Se non ci sarai io lo capirò
E nel silenzio io ti ascolterò
Io ti ascolterò

This song features various natural elements in its lyrics and it’s basically about how we can still feel the presence of someone who’s no longer with us, for a reason or another, by being comforted by our surroundings. A good match for this song is The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller, OMG the tears I’m fighting just writing this, but if you know you know.

the song of achilles

I really hope you had fun reading this article, I know for sure I had fun writing it and coming up with different ideas for these songs. What’s your favourite song from this year? Who do you think is gonna be the winner? You still have a few hours left to tell me!

Thanks for reading,
